About The Role

Are you friendly, reliable and willing to work outdoors in all weathers to ensure the safety of children? Do you care about your community and have a little time to spare?

If the answer is yes, you may be interested in becoming a School Crossing Patrol Officer. The role of a School Crossing Patrol officer is to ensure the safety of children and parents waiting to cross the road or crossing at a designated point between prescribed times, without detriment to the health and safety of all other road users. You must be able to work 5 days per week (mornings and afternoons) during school term times. Annual leave only to be taken during School Holidays.

What you’ll do

Ensure the safety of children crossing the road at a designated point on their journey
Operate hazard warning signs as appropriate
Control and direct traffic as appropriate
Maintain control over children who are awaiting instructions to cross
Use all uniform and equipment provided for personal safety and for the safety of children and other road users, especially when stopping traffic on the Highway
Regularly assess risks associated with operating at the crossing and identify any problems
Report problems and defects to manager
Appointment subject to Disclosure Barring Check (DBS)

Available Crossing Locations:
Warren Road Primary - Orpington
Blenheim Primary - Orpington

What we’ll offer you
Hours: 10 hours per week, Term time only (39 weeks a year) 2 hours per day 8:30am- 9:30am and 2:30pm - 3:30pm
Salary: £8.72 per hour
Full training and uniform will be provided
